I started in the SCA in 1991, at the Incipient College of Rencester in the Barony of Tir-y-Don in Atlantia. I registered my previous persona name, Muireann ní Riordáin, during that time. In my junior year, I began a two-year tenure as seneschale of the College, during which the group left its incipient status. After graduating from the College of William and Mary, I moved to the Barony of Ponte Alto, became active there, and have remained so ever since.
I quickly found my niche in the SCA in the Arts and Sciences. Many activities interest me and I have tried my hand at a number of different arts. Costuming and mosaics are two of my passions, and I have spent a great deal of time learning as much as I possibly can about them both. In the past few years I developed another passion, for Florence of the fifteenth century. This prompted me to change my persona from an Irish woman of indeterminate time to that of a Florentine lady of the 1470s, Giuliana Salviati. I felt, and still feel, that my new persona suited me far better than the old one, and it has become a vehicle for more in-depth persona research.
Although A&S remains my first love, I have also been moved to serve the Society in whatever way I can. I have held offices, from small college-level up to kingdom-level. I have taught classes at University of Atlantia and at the Pennsic War. I have organized and judged A&S competitions, and I founded the kingdom costumers' guild, in which I still serve as guild head. I'm sure I will continue to find opportunities to serve the fairest kingdom in the Known World.
